Anxiety can manifest in a variety of ways from a multitude of causes. It can be helpful to understand the physiological responses our body has to stress and how chronic anxiety can impact our overall wellbeing. Yoga has many tools to cultivate emotional health. Learn about specific practices and methods designed to help you break the anxiety cycle in this 5-hour workshop.
This workshop will include information on the physical and psychological process of anxiety, the traditional yoga perspective of anxious energy, and practical activities you can do to manage emotional wellbeing. Discussion will include yoga’s teachings on states of mind (vyasa), models of energy (gunas, brahmana, langhana), and tools to manage symptoms of anxiety. This workshop is designed for anyone who is interested in learning tools to build emotional health.
This workshop will include a combination of lecture and active practice. Additional resources will be provided to participants. This class will be led by Dr. Kim Allen, a certified 500-hour teacher and 500-hour yoga therapist through the American Viniyoga Institute. Kim has her doctorate in Health Education and has been teaching yoga since 1996 to a wide range of specialty populations. Earn 5 in-person Yoga Alliance CEU hours.
