Food as Medicine (Ayurveda)
The sister science to Yoga is Ayurveda – a holistic science of cultivating health through diet and lifestyle. In this workshop you will learn about the doshas or constitutions, the energetic models supporting them, and specific diet or yoga practices to help create balance. Additional resources will be provided to participants. Participants are encouraged to bring note-taking materials, a practice mat, and wear comfortable clothing for movement. Class will include some lecture, discussion, and guided practice (including movement, breathing, and meditation).

Tools of Transformation: Discussing Dharma
Yoga philosophy is rich with discussions about identifying and embracing your personal dharma, your true life's work/purpose. This 5-hour workshop will include information from the Bhagavad Gita, describing the concept of dharma, and the 4 Basic Aims of Life (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksa). Class will include some lecture, discussion, and guided practice (including movement, breathing, and meditation). You will leave this training with an understanding of these ideas from yoga philosophy as well as a personal journey to better understand yourself.

Adaptation Workshop
Not all yoga poses need to be achieved at 100% effort. Our bodies are changing every day and thus require different things. Adaptation refers to ways of adjusting traditional yoga postures to meet the body’s specific needs, raging from less to more intense. Understanding how and when to adapt increases awareness of movement, help develop more functional movement patterns, and improves overall body functioning.
During this 2 hour training you will learn the thinking process used to appropriately adapt poses. This workshop will include some lecture and lots of practice. Bring your ideas of favorite poses to be adapted or specific conditions that would require special adaptations!

This workshop will focus on how to use yoga asana to build strength, stability, and flexibility in the upper back and neck as well as useful ways to adapt common postures to allow for issues in this area. Unwinding/Somatic Yoga Workshop
Yoga combines postures (called asanas), breathing exercises (known as pranayama), and meditation to create a connection between your mind and body. Somatic principles include interoception, exteroception, and proprioception. These principles help build awareness in the following ways:
Interoception: Being aware of your body's internal sensations, such as your heart rate, breathing, and pain
Exteroception: Being aware of the environment, such as how hot or cold it is, vibrations in the floor, and other external factors
Proprioception: Being aware of your body's movement, balance, and position in space
The combination of these two types of movement help you to pay deeper attention to internal bodily sensations while moving. These techniques can also help unwind old physical and emotional habit patterns.

Death & Dying Workshop
“The only thing you can count on is death and taxes.” old saying
In yoga philosophy, abhinivesa is the mental suffering comes from the fear of death or loss of physical health. My yoga teacher would often say “Everything you know, everything you love will be gone someday.” (Dark, but true!) The fear of death/loss can be a strong motivator of actions – like working out or eating healthy or holding on to things (hoarding) or avoiding emotional attachments. The work is to become aware of how fear directs action. If you are running away from something, that action has consequences. Taking time to sit still, to make space to feel whatever you feel, allows light into the dark places. Cultivate a sense of safety and stillness that allows you to explore the dark places and be less reactive, more mindful.
This workshop will include some discussion of yoga philosophy and a full yoga practice (movement, breathing and meditation). Come join this safe space to explore.
