Developing a Personal Yoga Practice

  • Dragonfly 360 1724 East 86th Street Indianapolis, IN, 46240 United States (map)

Yoga is more than just stretching. The ancient tools of yoga were developed to increase your overall functioning, both physically and mentally. This workshop will introduce you to key tools of yoga integrated movement and breathing as well as the uses for sound, meditation, and ritual. The goal of this 10-hour workshop is to help you identify your current needs and how to develop a practice to meet you (or your students) where you are. Skill practice will include developing attention, defining intention, simple adaptation of traditional postures, and techniques to support practice over time. Each day of this workshop will include a combination of lecture and active practice. Participants are encouraged to bring note-taking materials, a practice mat, and wear comfortable clothing for movement. This class will be led by Dr. Kim Allen, a certified 500-hour teacher and 500-hour yoga therapist through the American Viniyoga Institute. Kim has her doctorate in Health Education and has been teaching yoga since 1996 to a wide range of specialty populations. Cost: $200 for two-day session. Qualifies for 10 in-person Yoga Alliance CEUs.
